Anniversary of the Estonian War of Independence Armistice

On 3 January 1920 at 10:30, the armistice agreement between Estonia and Soviet Russia came into effect, marking the total victory of Estonia in the War of Independence.

In addition to the ceremony at the Monument to the War of Independence, units of the Estonian Defence Forces and units of the Estonian Defence League laid wreaths on monuments to the War of Independence across Estonia. The anniversary of the ceasefire was also celebrated with the sound of church bells ringing all over Estonia, with a minute of silence in radio programmes and the whistling of ships’ whistles at ports.
